Civil waste water treatment: reed bed system
Manufactured in Italy according to the highest European Standards, ISEA provides subsurface-flow reed bed systems for the purpose of preventing domestic and commercial wastewater from running into public sewers or surfaces. The system doesn't require electricity.
Wastewater is distributed into several beds inside the system, each containing several plants. The treatment process uses the soil’s evapotranspiration properties and absorbs the organic content from wastewater through the plant’s system. The only water escaping the system is rainwater, which only leaves during a storm.
Nonetheless, said water is deemed sufficiently diluted and, therefore, can be discharged through the system’s overflow pipe or returned upstream by a suitable recirculation pump station. Thus ensuring that no wastewater is allowed to escape the system.
These systems can be complemented with pretreatments to improve the overall efficiency of treatment (depending on the influent properties, subsurface flow systems are particularly suitable. The system is offered in different sizes from 2 to 32 equivalent residents.
